2024 Play Women’s Rugby

Play Women's Rugby

Want to play Women’s Rugby?

Play Women’s Rugby with us! Drummoyne Rugby has a rich tradition within the Australian Rugby community, with its origin dating back to the beginning of rugby in Australia. The club was formed in 1874, and became famous as “The Dirty Reds”, from their scarlet jerseys and gritty style of play. Across our almost 150 years, the club has competed at the highest level of NSW Rugby, and produced 47 wallabies, and had more than 1000 players wear the red jersey, including representatives in Women’s Rugby for NSW and Australia.

Women’s Rugby

We are excited to announce that Women’s Rugby is back at Drummoyne for our 150th season in 2024, and will be competing in the Joy Johnson Cup as part of NSW Suburban Rugby.

We welcome all comers, be they experienced hands or first timers to play women’s rugby union in Sydney’s Inner West with Drummoyne Rugby.

Registration fees are covered by our sponsors for 2024!

Our pre-season started in January, and it’s never too late to start. We have:

  • weekly gym sessions on Monday at 6pm with the team at CSP Gym Inner West
  • weekly field training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Taplin Park in Drummoyne

Whilst the draw is being finalised, there are ten teams looking to compete in the second year of the Joy Johnson Cup, with the format changing from 7s to 10s in 2024, and with games to be played on the main pitch and streamed on NSW Rugby TV. Four teams in Division 1 will be competing including Drummoyne.
